One of the problems with health care is that everyone is protecting their own territory. The temper right now is like a cage wrestling match free for all, with everyone fiercely trying to stay in the medical ring and win.
No one is looking beyond their own self interest. No one is fighting for the general good.
We all know the major players, the doctors, nurses, other health care and support personnel, hospitals, medical malpractice lawyers, drug manufactures, medical equipment manufacturers, insurance companies, company benefit packages, malpractice attorneys, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, patient office, other government health care regulators, congressmen, senators, our President, political parties, state boards of health, state legislatures, governors, other state health agencies, consumer organizations, ethnic groups, disease mitigating charities, food, tobacco, alcohol brewing companies, illegal drug pushers, other health spoiling entities, and individuals who insist on living unhealthy life styles.
What a list! No wonder we are in such a mess.
Each individual group, organization, company, government department or office has their own advocating association, lobbying representatives, legal representation, media promoters, and war chest to fight each other for their right to earn, spend or control our medical dollars.
Ethics have been compromised so many times that no one rightfully trusts the motives, tactics, proposals, or solutions of anyone else. We hear each say good words. But we are sensitized to think, “What are they really after?”
Where is our good and grand arbiter, when we need him so badly?
We all know that if each of these players could work together for the common good, the general health of everyone would soar, and our medical costs would plummet.
One would have to agree that fundamentally we have the ability to pursue and achieve excellent quality health care for everyone. One would rightly question though, if we have the wisdom, virtue, and will to achieve it.
Too many people fall through the cracks and languish because they do not have means or access to the assistive equipment they need. We at Ability Found are helping as many of these people as possible with the donations we receive.
We hope that all of these players will come to their senses and realize that the solution must be through voluntary cooperation and benevolent forbearance by each player for the greater good of everyone. After all, every individual that works for these players will be personally treated by the system that emerges….. Or should be.
